his is a scrapbook; a spiritual journey. It contains bits and pieces-snapshots-of my journey toward that ultimate Destination for Whom all people in all time have yearned; that Destination that is not a what or a where but a Whom. It was a fifty-five-year wandering in a barren wilderness, exploring this and that path until, at long last, I stumbled upon my Destination. He brooded over my meanderings, cried my name in the dark and light of each earth rotation; tapped my shoulder and blocked my path. He vied with all the flotsam and jetsam of my life in a near-vain attempt to capture my attention. He was right there all along, but I was looking for someone in a different garb, a different shape, I didn’t see Him. I confess, He is still not in complete focus. My photo of Him is blurred but, finally, He is in the frame.

All this is to say that this blog will be a collection of writings done over the last several years. Some are essays, some are stories some are exposition all are random thoughts, at odd angles to one another; a tangential thinker can only produce tangential thoughts.

I claim no depth of insight or understanding. I suspect my theology and hold all I think I know lightly, ready to release what I have cherished as solid rock when the Rock speaks. At the same time,, as He comes into sharper focus He becomes increasingly real; a firm foundation which cannot be moved. It is not what I believe about Him anymore, but Who He is that holds my attention. Some will accuse me of being blown around the compass with every doctrinal whim generated by the latest theological windbag. True in that what was once firm ground now may prove to be sinking sand; untrue in that the Foundation Himself becomes ever firmer ground on Whom to stand. The camera of my spirit, increasingly sharply focused, finds ever more detail in the glorious image which can never be completely captured. Angles change, detail emerges, shadows are lightened, in the never-ending quest that is the journey of a lifetime, of a life.

To live is Christ: words by which to live and die.
